Morris is the maiden name of:
The surname Morris is of French origin, and probably derives from the personal name Maurice. It was introduced to England after the Norman Conquest and is found in all counties of England.
These are the ancestors of Hannah Morris (1779-1847).
It is believed that the parents of Hannah Morris were a John Morris and his wife Ann, whose maiden name is uncertain. There are at least two possible couples who may be Hannah’s parents:
These are the ancestors of Catherine Morris (1773-1834).
Almost nothing is known of Robert Morris and his wife Esther apart from their names, and even the surname of Esther is unknown. They are likely to have been born between 1740 and 1755 in London. There are two possible baptism records for Robert:
On the basis of location of subsequent family members, St. Marylebone is probably more likely that Shoreditch. There is another baptism record, the son of Robert and Massey Morris baptised at St. Andrew Holborn on 23 January 1757, but this would make him only 17 when Catherine was born.
It is probable that Robert and Esther married around 1765-1772, but no record has been found. There is also no verifiable record of when they died, but it was presumably in London. It is possible that Esther died in 1835, but this record indicates she would have been born in 1756, making her only 17 when Catherine was born.
These are the ancestors of Ellen Morris (born c.1733). Nothing is known about these ancestors, including their names.
