Our great-great-great-great-great grandparents
Thomas Ramsdale was born at Astley, Lancashire in 1741, the son of Thomas and Alice Ramsdale.1 He was baptised at St. Mary the Virgin Leigh on 13 January 1750. Interestingly, another Ramsdale child was baptised at St. Mary the Virgin the same day: Mary daughter of John Ramsdale of Westleigh.
Mary Heyes was born at Astley around 1746, the daughter of Richard Heyes and Elizabeth Collier of Astley. She was baptised at St. Stephen Astley on 27 November 1748.
Thomas and Mary married on 16 February 1768 at St. Oswald Winwick, Lancashire following reading of the Banns on 24 January, 31 January and 7 February. The ceremony was conducted by Thomas Leyland, and the witnesses were Peter Thomason and William Donbavand.

Thomas Ramsdale’s occupation is not known.
Mary Heyes died in mid-December 1809 and was buried at Newchurch on 17 December. According to her burial record she was aged 63 at death and her abode was shown as Bedford.
Thomas Ramsdale died in early March 1814 and was buried at Newchurch on 7 March. According to Thomas’ burial record he was aged 73 at death and his abode was shown as Bedford.
