Very little is known about John Turnbull and Margaret Menzies. They were probably born in the 1720s, but there are a number of possible matches for each of them in the Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950 records. It is possible that Margaret was the “Margaret Meinzeis” , daughter of “William Meinzeis” and “Margaret Mccoul”, who was baptised at Glasgow on 12 May 1724. There is no record of a John Turnbull born in Glasgow, but he may have been born elsewhere.
John and Margaret probably married between 1740 and 1742, but there is no record of this in Scotland, Marriages, 1561-1910. The couple had at least two children:
