Gibson Les Paul Classic 2018 model

15 January 2023

This one was bought from a place in Sydney in December 2019. I bought it because I was looking for a Gibson with P-90 pickups and this one seemed like a good deal. When I got it, it looked like it had never been played. This guitar was a really pleasant surprise and far exceeded my expectations. The neck and the frets were perfect for me, the pickups sounded spectacular, and I loved the Grover tuners. Sadly I had to sell it for financial reasons in January 2023.

It's very similar (at least cosmetically) to the Les Paul Pro Deluxe model (as used by Mark McEntee from The Divinyls) that was made from around 1976-1982, the main difference being that they had ebony fingerboards and mine is rosewood. From a quick search on the web the Les Paul Pro Deluxes seem to have been made in all black, cherry sunburst, tobacco sunburst, gold top, and a wine red. At around the same time Gibson also produced the Les Paul Deluxe model, with mini humbuckers.

I have always loved Les Pauls and had owned several before.

The Les Paul Classic model has changed constantly since being introduced in 1990. Read more about the early history of the model.
