Galveston Single Cone Resonator
This was my first resonator and it was really a work of art. I ordered it from the USA and sold it to someone in Wollongong Australia for much the same as I paid for it.
It had a quite harsh sound wih a banjo-like twang, but I thought it was great at the time. The strings were quite close together which made it impossible to use finger picks. I believe it was made in Korea.
It had a nickel plated brass body, the fingerboard looked like it was ebony, it had gorgeous Mother of Pearl and Abalone fingerboard inlays, gold plated deluxe tuners and mock pearl headstock veneer with a palm tree motif. The photos against the wooden floorboards were taken with a flash camera but no digital retouching. I don't know why everything looks so golden - maybe there were candles or a lamp - I can't remember. The photos at the bottom were from the ad when I bought it, presumably using natural light. In daylight that's pretty much what it looked like.
It was so stunning looking that I really should have kept it just to hang on the wall.
After a while I moved on to a Chinese Tricone before finally making the splurge on a National.
