Anthony Dwyer's Guitars

Artist WBS200 Weissenborn lap steel

30 January 2016

This is just a cheap Chinese copy of a Weissenborn lap steel guitar. I bought it in September 2015. Despite being one of the cheapest guitars I own I thoroughly enjoyed playing it and getting more involved in acoustic lap slide. The piezo pickup also sounded really nice so for the money this guitar is pretty damn good.

It is built from solid mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. This one has a natural finish as opposed to the high gloss finish that a lot of them have.

It has a single coil magnetic pickup as well as a piezo and as you can see from the photo above, it has the ability to mix between the two. A huge bonus is the onboard tuner so in a gig situation it would be really fast to change tunings between songs.

All in all I'd have to say this was fantastic value for money but I sold it at the end of January 2016 after I bought the Brauchli.

One of my own songs called Love Cop. Recorded October 2015 in open D tuning (D A D F# A D).
Recorded on a relatively cheap Canon video camera so the sound is not pro quality.
